Light! - Matthew 5:14-16

"You are the light that gives light to the world. A city that is built on a hill cannot be hidden. And people don't hide a light under a bowl. No. People put the light on a lamp table. Then the light shines for all the people in the house. In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that people will see the good things you do. Live so that people will praise your Father in heaven. (ERV)

Key Thought
One of the great things about camping out in the country is that you can get away from the city lights and really see the stars. When you are away from the city, a full moon is bright enough to find your way around in the night. The sky is full of light from the stars. In a world of darkness, we are those who have come from darkness into light and we are to reflect the light we have found in Jesus. But Jesus' point is that we are not just to shine our lights in our own little circle of influence, but we are to shine them so that every place of darkness is either brought to the light or is exposed for what it is.

Today's Prayer

Help me, O God, to be a light to those near and far. Lead me into ways of service that will bless people in the name of Jesus. I am concerned, LORD God, about several folks that I know personally and that need to become Christians. Help me to be your light of joy and salvation that will help them come to know you as their Heavenly Father. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen

Salt! - Matthew 5:13

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its taste, then it cannot be made salty again. Salt is good for nothing, if it loses its salty taste. It must be thrown out and people walk on it. (ERV)

Key Thought
How does salt become “unsalty”? That's a logical question for folks who get their (sodium) salt out of a saltshaker. In Jesus' day, they got their salt from the Dead Sea. It could break down and lose its taste much more easily than our salt does today. If the salty elements in it were diluted with other things, the saltiness could be lost. Then it is only good to act as a little weed killer on the path that people frequently walked. In much the same way, the disciple who does not live by Kingdom Family values will lose his or her ability to influence and preserve the culture. In other words, Jesus was not interested in getting a group together just to have club meetings. He was calling disciples so that the righteousness, justice, and compassion of God could be shared and modeled to the world. If his disciples were to lose those things, then of what good and influence have they been?

Today's Prayer
Holy and Righteous God, I want to share your grace and bring your deliverance and joy to my friends, co-workers, and neighbors. Please help my influence in each of these places to be a blessing and a positive influence. Please forgive me for the times I have not been a preserving, redeeming, and saving influence to those around me. In the name of Jesus who has saved me. Amen.

Care este visul tau?

"Iata ca vine fauritorul de visuri! Veniti acum, sa-l omoram..." Genesa 37:19-20

Toti avem visuri Dar care este visul tau? Daca ai putea face orice, care ar fi acel lucru? Majoritatea dintre noi nu au mari realizari pentru ca renuntam, dam gres, ne abatem de pe cale, ne potincnim sau avem visuri prea marunte. Doar doua lucruri iti stau in cale: capacitatea de a visa si infapturiea visului. Ai indraznit sa visezi cu adevarat? Ceea ce ai la indemana nu este vis. Daca nu te provoaca, daca nu te costa ceva sau daca nu implica risc, acela nu este vis. Visele te schimba asa cum schimba si lumea din jurul tau.

Poate iti pleci urechea la parerile critice ale omenilor. Mai tii minte viata lui Iosif? Ei au spus: "Iata ca vine fauritorul de visuri! Veniti acum, sa-l omoram...". Cei care nu isi urmeaza propriul lor vis sunt de regula primii care ii critieca pe cei care nu au vise. Asadar de cine vei asculta?

Poate iti este teama de visuri prea mari. Nu vrei sa dai gres. Nimeni nu vrea. Dar "viata ferita de pericole" te duce la regret. Theodore Roosevelt a spus: "Ese cu mult mai bine sa -ti doresti lucruri marete, sa ai parte de victorii triumfale, chiar daca sunt asistate de esec, decat sa fi in rand cu acele biete suflete care nici nu se bucura nici nu sufera prea mult fiindca traiesc intr-o lumina gri care nu cunoaste nici victoria nici infrangerea."

Care este cel mai rau lucru care ti se poate intampla daca iti urmezi visul si nu ti-l implinesti? Ajungi de unde ai pornit. Si care este cel mai bun lucru care ti se poate intampla? Poti ajunge in noi taramuri, te poti bucura de noi binecuvantari si poti trai viata pe care o doreste Dumnezeu pentru tine! (CLDpt Astazi)
